A Small Office with a Clear Purpose
Quietacre exists to make the informational side of retirement a little less daunting — through honest sessions, well-structured tools, and the company of others on the same path.
← Back to HomeHow Quietacre Came to Be
Quietacre was started in Ubon Ratchathani in 2019 by a small group of people who had themselves navigated the administrative complexity of retirement without much support. They noticed that most of the people around them were making decisions based on fragmented or confusing information — not because the information did not exist, but because nobody had put it together in a plain, accessible way.
The organisation began with a single informal workshop held in a community room. Word spread quietly, and over the following months, the programme grew into the three core offerings you see today: information workshops, a document organisation toolkit, and facilitated peer circles.
The name was chosen deliberately. A quietacre is an old term for a patch of land set aside for rest. That idea — a calm, unhurried space where people can sit with something as significant as the end of their working life — still shapes everything the organisation does.
Why We Do This Work
The transition into retirement touches nearly every part of a person's life — financial arrangements, social identity, daily structure, paperwork, and relationships. It deserves more than a brochure.
Quietacre's role is a modest one: to provide clear, general information; to help people bring order to their own documents; and to offer a steady, peer-supported space for sharing experiences. We do not give professional advice of any kind. We simply aim to be a reliable, calm point of reference in a process that can feel overwhelming.

How We Work
A set of practical principles that shape every session, every toolkit, and every facilitated circle we run.
Informational Content Only
All workshop material is reviewed to ensure it remains general, factual, and free from anything that could be construed as regulated professional advice.
Participant Privacy
Personal details shared in circles stay within the group. Participant contact data is held securely and not shared with any third party.
Regular Content Reviews
Workshop materials are reviewed every six months to reflect any general changes in how retirement systems are structured or communicated publicly.
Facilitator Standards
All facilitators complete an internal onboarding programme covering communication standards, confidentiality, and appropriate scope of the role.
Participant Feedback Loops
Every session ends with an optional written feedback form. Responses shape future sessions and toolkit revisions directly.
Clear Scope Boundaries
When a participant's question falls outside our scope — legal, financial, or health-related — we say so clearly and suggest they seek appropriate professional input.
Retirement Information Support in Ubon Ratchathani
Quietacre operates from Thanon Chayangkun in the heart of Ubon Ratchathani, offering residents of the region a local, accessible place to engage with the informational and organisational aspects of retirement. For many people, the path toward and into retirement involves paperwork they have never encountered before, questions that are difficult to frame, and a significant shift in daily rhythm.
Our workshops address the informational side — covering how pension structures are generally organised, what administrative steps people commonly encounter, and how to approach the process with a clearer picture. These sessions are educational gatherings, not advisory meetings. Participants leave with a better general understanding, not a personalised plan.
The Document Organisation Toolkit was developed in response to a consistent observation: people often have the right documents, but no reliable way to locate them when needed. The toolkit provides a straightforward folder structure and a set of plain-language templates that work on any standard computer. It requires no technical background and is designed to be set up in a single afternoon.
Community Support Circles meet regularly, bringing together people at various stages of the retirement journey. The circles are facilitated to remain supportive and peer-led. No advice is given — the value is in the collective experience of those present, and in the reassurance that comes from being heard by others navigating similar territory.
